Fetch A Sketch Challenge 23

It's time for another Fetch A Sketch challenge and it's my turn to host the first week with my sketch:
We have two sponsors this fortnight:  Funky Hand is offering a download:
And A Day For Daisies is offering a $12 gift certificate!  So two prizes means two winners!
I've used a wonderful image from A Day For Daisies called Sleeping Flower.  I've coloured it with Promarkers and added some tiny half pearls plus rich purple ribbon from my stash.  I've used on one my fancy X Cut dies for the card shape and then two Nesties for the image and layering.

Papers are from Funky Hand and I've used the Spring Has Sprung download.

Good luck with the challenge - closing date is Sunday 13 May at 12noon GMT and for more details and how to enter, pop over to the challenge blog!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Sunday 29 April 2012

It's Happened Again!

It's the last Sunday of the month so its another round of the Inkart Championships at Daytona Manchester!  Three rather exciting qualifying rounds and Samuel again had a bit of bad luck in one of the rounds however he started again in the A final with a 4th place grid position and just like last month, he whipped round the second and third grid starters and straight into second place on the first corner!

He held his position for the full 20 laps and finished in second place!  He also broke his personal best time which previously was 26.01 seconds, so now he has a 25.90 second lap!

Here he is getting his second place trophy:
And on the podium with the other cadet drivers (they are the smaller ones!) and the junior drivers.  Samuel is second in the black suit on the left of the picture:
And here he is with his trophy!  It is actually slightly different to the March race and also a bit bigger too!

And not to be outdone, Jacob has made it onto the Formula Bambino Power Lap standings with a 30.636 lap in the recent Formula Bambino round!  It's not his personal best time but still a cracking good time!

I think I'll sleep well tonight as it was a rather early start due to the Manchester Marathon and the roads being closed around Daytona Manchester!  Plus all the excitement!!

Stylish

A pretty quick card to make once I'd decided what I was doing!  The image is a stamped Penny Black and I've coloured it with Promarkers to match the paper which is Bazzil Basics Swiss Dots that I've had for ages (since Harrogate September 2009!!)  I've also used some plain pink and black card from my stash for layering.

The sentiment is a magazine freebie and I've used various flowers, the brad and half pearls from my stash that came from different RAK's over the years.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Penny Black:  No Patterned Paper
The Sweetest Thing:  Sketch followed
Southern Girls:  Get Your Girly On
Inspired By:  Colour Combo Used
Fab N Funky:  No Designer Paper

  • Image:  Penny Black, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers:  All from my stash
  • Sentiment:  Magazine Freebie

#1 Dad

It's my Dad's birthday tomorrow and although I've had plenty of notice (it falls on the same day each year), I'd still managed to forget to make a card!  However, I bought a huge (3,000) amount of digi's in Dustin Pikes recent Blogversary sale and I came across this image within the files so I decided to use it.

I've used my brand new circle Nesties to cut the shape (no more wonky circles for me now!) and I've used the fab Echo Park Mr Campy digi paper pack for the papers. The sentiment is a magazine freebie from ages ago from Ladybug Crafts Ink.  Image coloured with Promarkers.

Just have to remember to take the card with me now when we go over to see them tomorrow!  Won't be the first time I've left something at home and had to post it!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Pikes Playground:  Great Outdoors
Card Positioning Systems:  Sketch Followed
My Mums Craft Shop:  The Great Outdoors
Ladybug Crafts Ink:  Birthday

  • Image:  Dustin Pike, coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers:  Echo Park, Mr Campy

  • Sentiment:  Magazine freebie

Simply Create Too Challenge 12 - It's About Time

There is a new Simply Create Too challenge!  And this fortnight, the theme is:

It's About Time

I've used a 6x6 Prima paper from the Romantique collection which I've only trimmed down very slightly.  The wonderful clock die cut was sent to me by the wonderful Funky Hand DT mate Debs and I've coloured it with various Promarkers and dies to make it match the paper.

The teacup image is from Jellypark and again I've coloured it with Promarkers to match the papers.  It's been layered onto the centre bit from the clock and I've added some tiny half pearls here and there.  I don't normally do 'grungy' and I think this is about as far as it goes for me, but I do like it!

Good luck with the challenge!  For more details, pop over to the Simply Create Too challenge blog!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

365 Day Cards:  Day 57 - A New Technique
Paper Crafting Journey:  Vintage
Truly Scrumptious:  Distressing & Die Cuts
Anything Goes:  Tick Tock
Passion For Promarkers:  Die Cuts
Cheerful Stamp Pad:  Time / Queen / Tea (at least 2)

  • Image:  Jellypark, coloured with Promarkers
  • Die Cuts:  From Debs
  • Papers:  Prima 6x6 Romantique pad
  • Everything else:  My stash

Polkadoodle Challenge 17 - Shabby Chic / Vintage

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge!  This week the theme is:

Shabby Chic / Vintage

And here is what I came up with!  I do like making baby cards and I always like to make a boy and a girl one!  I've used a kraft card blank for each and then slightly trimmed it down so it would fit in my rather ancient Sizzix Original red die cutting machine so I could use the fab Marianne Embossing folder (it also punches out the little bits across the bottom!)  I've also used the Baby Carriage too.

I've used papers from Sugarplum Daisy (gingham) and Candy Doodles cds.  Then I found various ribbons in my stash - I think the pink gingham must have been tied around something before as it looked 'used'!  The charms are from my stash too.

Good luck with the challenge - for more details, pop over to the challenge blog!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Bearly Mine:  Baby Days
Party Time Tuesday's:  Anything Goes + Kraft
Kaboodle Doodles:  Embossing
Lollipop Crafts:  Baby Baby

  • Dies / Embossing:  Marianne Creatables
  • Papers:  Polkadoodles - Sugarplum Daisy and Candy Doodles cds
  • Everything else:  My stash

Crimbo Crackers Challenge 14 - Angels

It's time for another Crimbo Crackers challenge and the theme this fortnight is:

Angels

I have two wonderful sponsors for the challenge - Funky Hand and Jellypark!  A download from Funky Hand and two digi's from Jellypark are the prizes for this challenge so two lucky winners!  A big thank you to Anice and Claire for their continuing generosity!

For my creation I have used two different Funky Hand products - the main backing paper is Rainbow Polkadots download and I've also used the Boys and Girls download behind the image which is no longer available.  And from Jellypark, I've used the Cute Little Angel stamp which has been coloured with Promarkers plus the obligatory glitter on her wings!

The ribbon is from my stash and I've had to do the one loop method as it wasn't long enough for a traditional two bow finish!  I've used my Sizzix snowflake die to cut sparkly paper and vellum and layered them up.

Good luck with the challenge!  For more details please pop over to Crimbo Crackers.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments:  For A Child
Flourishes:  Bingo (Pink, Ribbon, Die Cut)
Passion For Promarkers:  Use Die Cuts
Karen's Doodles:  Something For The Kids
  • Image:  Jellypark, coloured with Promarkers and glitter glue
  • Papers:  Funky Hand
  • Dies:  Sizzix snowflakes

I've used the fab Jacques Waterman image, coloured him with Promarkers and added some Funky Hand papers and stars cut with my X Cut dies.  I've handcut the waves.

Fetch A Sketch Challenge 22 - Midway Extra

It's time for my offering over at Fetch A Sketch as it is the Midway Extra post.  Jenny set the challenge and sketch last Monday:

And now its my turn to do the middle bit!  We are sponosred this fortnight by Bugaboo who are generously offering the winner a $21 gift certificate to spend instore!  To have a look at the huge range of digi stamps, just click the banner below!
And here is my take on the sketch.  You can flip it or rotate it and as long as we can see the sketch in your creation we will be happy!  And you can create any item you want - it doesn't have to be a card or layout!

I've used the Ribbon Bunny digi and coloured it with Promarkers.  I've used my Nesties for layering and the paper is from Shabby Saturday download from Funky Hand.  The ribbon and pearls are from my stash along with the pearl headed brad to keep the ribbon in place.

I picked the digi as its a cause very close to my heart at the moment as I have a wonderful blogging friend who is suffering a lot from Breast Cancer and is undergoing treatment.  If you get chance, pop over to Jennifer and tell her I said hello!

Baby Tags

Are these cute baby tags or what?! Its part of a sheet of new baby themed downloads from Jellypark. I've printed them to fit two lots to a sheet of A4 card so that they are small enough to use as actual tags and I've coloured them with Promarkers.

I've made the gift pouches from my own template and they fit a credit card sized gift card inside. I've used ribbon, buttons and embroidery thread from my stash to decorate the fronts. The papers are from the fab new download from Funky Hand - Spring Has Sprung.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Jellypark Challenge 20 - Bunnies

It's time for another Jellypark challenge! We had a little break over Easter and now we are raring to go! The theme for the challenge this fortnight is:

Little Bunny

I've used the rather cute bunny from Jellypark that is actually a real stamp and can be bought from My Favourite Things. This one is a little girl and she has been coloured with Promarkers and added to the pocket cartoon with a strip of left over laminating from a previous project (I don't like to throw anything away - just in case!)

The template for the pocket cartoon is from Waltzing Mouse and I've used it lots of times and it is so easy to use! The papers are from the fab Sugarplum Daisy cd from Polkadoodles.

Good luck with the challenge and watch out for the new release stamps!

Monster Birthday

I do like bargains and sales. And I especially enjoyed buying around 3,000 Dustin Pike images for $20 (just over £13) at the weekend. And here is one cutie who was in the haul!

I've coloured him with Promarkers and added glossy accents to his eyes (you can't really see as it was rather early this morning when I took the photo!) and added his balloon to a length of wire that I had wrapped around a pencil and it boings around quite a bit!

The monster is the front of the card, and the patterned paper you see behind is the inside of the card.

I've printed quite a few of the images off from the sale, so watch out for those in the future!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Doodle Dragon Studios: Make Us Laugh

It's time for a new challenge at Dude Time Doodles - it is a theme and a colour challenge too:

I've used Skip Sk8r as my image and he's been added to a tag which swings from the card - just as if he is skateboarding! The papers are from DCWV 6x6 Retro Stack, I've added some card candy and also some embroidery thread from my stash to hold the tag onto the card.

The sentiment stamp one that is no longer available from Funky Fairy so I've had it for quite some time! I've added a doodled line around the edge of the card with a white gel pen and a dotted black line around the edge of the image.

It's time for my turn over at Get Funky for this months challenge theme which is:

Sentimental

I do like making word books and I've made these two (for the same person but from two people - if you know what I mean!) with papers from the no longer available (sorry!) boys and girls download from Funky Hand. I've made the large letters with word and the smaller ones are Sizzix Round A Bout alphabet dies.

I've added X Cut star die cuts from oddments of card and some corrugated gold card. Although I've glued the pages together, I've added some twine for texture.

White Winter

I do like making cards without an image. For one its a lot quicker as I don't spend the time colouring and then trying to match papers (should do it the other way round but I never learn!) Plus I can then use what ever colour scheme I want.

I decided on the Jingle Belles sketch and as I'd just treated myself to some Marianne Creatables dies - the snowflake set- from Amazon (gift certificate) I thought I'd better use them.

For some reason I have a lot of vellum, but to be honest, you really can't have enough of the stuff as it really is great to work with and I should use it more! I used the half pearls (from Meiflower) to hide the glue splodges underneath the vellum.

And the ribbon I found in my stash and it was just what I was looking for! The snowflakes are layered and I've cut some glitter card too in between the vellum layers. I've also added a line of silver gel pen dots around the edge of the vellum to sort of finish it off as it looked a little bare.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Jingle Belles: Sketch followed
Craft Your Passion: Die Cuts or Punches
Lexi's Creations: Die Cuts or Punches
Stampin' Sisters In Christ: Something Transparent
The Stamp Man: Vellum

  • Dies: Marianne Creatables

Pink, Pearls and Lace

I had originally made this card for the A Day For Daisies challenge but I forgot to blog it and therefore missed the challenge deadline! I've used A Day For Daisies image and coloured it with Promarkers plus added a tiny half pearl to the ribbon on the Mummy duck.

The backing paper is actually recycled wrapping paper from one of my Birthday presents - the paper was too pretty to throw away! The lace too is recycled and is from the scrap store - I just about had enough and the gap is hidden under the image. Ribbon and flowers are from my stash.

The pink pearl heart and the half pearls I bought from Meiflower and the sentiment is an acrylic stamp I got ages ago as a magazine freebie along with others. A bit of fine line black pen dotting around the edges and its complete!

Simply Create Too - Challenge 11 - Earth Day

It's time for another Simply Create Too challenge and the theme this fortnight is:

Earth Day

I was so lucky to have this particular image that I have used on my card drawn espeically for me by Claire Keay the illustrator behind Jellypark - she drew a series of images for me as my cousin Claire was getting married and I'd been asked to make the special thank you cards.

Although you can't see it - the bride and grooms initals are carved onto the tree trunk with a heart and the tree is scattered with little hearts! I've used Aquamarkers to colour it and then it has been layered up with linen effect cardstock to match the base.

The ribbon is matches all the Wedding Stationery and I've kept the bow the same so it all matches.

I hope you can join in with the challenge - for more details and inspiration please go to Simply Create Too!

Polkadoodle Challenge 15 - Pretty In Pink

It's time for another Polkadoodle challenge and the theme is:

A nice quick card to make and they always are very well received!

I hope everyone enjoyed the blog hop from a few weeks ago - the winners are announced on the Polkadoodle blog and I had a copy of Sugarplum Daisy to give away to a lucky commenter and the winner is:
